Coats for Christmas
Second Annual Coats for Christmas Event was a success.
December 14th, 2009
The final numbers are in following the Penny Lane Bargain Outlet’s second annual ‘Coats for Christmas’ campaign. On Saturday December 12th, 2009, the Penny Lane Bargain Outlet teamed up once again with Astral Media to raise funds for the local Food Bank and the Fire Department Toy and Toonies for Tots to Teens fundraiser. The campaign consisted of the Penny Lane Bargain Outlet giving away FREE winter jackets, coats and snowsuits to customers who came in and gave a minimum donation of $10.00 to the Food Bank or the Fire Department.
The total number of brand new jackets that were given away totaled 275, of which half were kids two piece snowsuits. We raised a total of $2873 for both groups in the five hour promotion. The value of the winter jackets that were given away totaled $29,479.20.
A number of people came in, donated to the campaign to receive the free winter jacket or snowsuit of their choice, and then in turn gave that item back to the Fire Department so they can distribute as needed.
A huge thank you to Astral media for spreading the word as well as being on location during the event. Thank you to Fire Chief, Lloyd Miskiman, who kept all the customers on their toes with his minute by minute specials. Finally, thank you to the Summerland Rangers, a division of the Summerland Girl Guides, for serving up hot dogs and hot chocolate outside during the chilly day.
